Heart's Cry was awarded Best Older Horse in Japan in 2005. At 4 he won the Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) beating Deep Impact and finished close 2nd to Alkaased in the Grade 1 Japan Cup. At 5 he added another top-flight title to his tally in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic and finished a gallant 3rd to Hurricane Run and Electrocutionist in the Group 1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Heart's Cry entered stud in Japan in 2007. In 2017 his late blooming son Cheval Grand denied the 2017 Japanese Derby winner Rey de Oro and the reining Horse of the Year in Japan Kitasan Black, and captured his first Grade 1 victory in the Japan Cup. In 2018 Suave Richard won his first Grade 1 race in the Osaka Hai, and Lys Gracieux took her first Grade 1 victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup and was awarded 2018 Best Older Filly or Mare in Japan. In the U.S.A. Yoshida took the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes on dirt and became the first Japanese bred horse to win the Grade 1 races on dirt in the U.S.A. He also won the Grade 1 Turf Classic Stakes on turf. The year 2019 was a fantastic year for him: Lys Gracieux added the Grade 1 Takarazuka Kinen, the Group 1 Cox Plate, and the Grade 1 the Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) to her top-level CV and was awarded Horse of the Year in Japan. Also in the same year, Suave Richard earned his second Grade 1 victory in the Japan Cup, and Salios won the Grade 1 the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths in stakes-record time.
Among his other best progeny are Dubai Duty Free winner Just a Way, Japanese Derby winner One and Only, Japanese Oaks winner Nuovo Record, and Caulfield Cup winner Admire Rakti.
