Do Deuce, by Dubai Sheema Classic and Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) winner and proven sire Heart's Cry, became the first male in JRA history to win Grade 1 races at 2, 3, 4, and 5. Showing a tremendous late kick, he won the Grade 1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes over 1600 meters at 2, the Grade 1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) with subsequent two-time Japanese Horse of the Year Equinox finishing 2nd over 2400 meters at 3, the Grade 1 Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) over 2500m at 4, and the Grade 1 Tenno Sho (autumn) over 2000 meters and the Grade 1 Japan Cup over 2400 meters at 5. To the amazement of many, he clocked the final 600 meters in 32.5 seconds in the Tenno Sho (autumn) and 32.7 seconds in the Japan Cup.
