Mile Championship(2025)
Palace Malice, by two-time American Horse of the Year and super sire Curlin, earned his first Grade 1 win in the Belmont Stakes, defeating Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow by 3 1/4 lengths, with Kentucky Derby winner Orb a further 1 3/4 lengths back in 3rd. He proved his class again by winning the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at 4, beating Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile victor Goldencents by a length and completing the mile distance in 1:33.56. He is a half-brother to Grade 1 Tenno Sho (spring) winner Justin Palace.
Palace Malice entered stud in the U.S.A. in 2016. He moved to Japan for the 2024 season. In 2023, Jantar Mantar completed a perfect 3-for-3 juvenile season with a brilliant victory in the Grade 1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes and was awarded Best Two-Year-Old Colt in Japan. In 2024, Jantar Mantar added a second top-flight victory to his CV in the Grade 1 NHK Mile Cup. In 2025, Jantar Mantar became the first horse to win all four Grade 1 turf mile races open to males in Japan, completing the sweep by capturing both the Grade 1 Yasuda Kinen and the Grade 1 Mile Championship, and was awarded Best Miler in Japan.
Among his other best progeny are Structor, who won the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf; Mr. Monomoy, who took the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes; and Noble Roger, who won the Grade 3 Shinzan Kinen.
