Curren Black Hill, a son of five-time Grade 1 (Jpn1) winner Daiwa Major, produced an emphatic and uncontested 3 1/2-length victory in the Grade 1 NHK Mile Cup, stretching his winning streak to four out of the same starts at 3. He also won the Grade 2 Mainichi Okan and the Grade 2 New Zealand Trophy in the same year, and showed great longevity to win the Grade 3 Lord Derby Challenge Trophy at 5 and the Grade 3 Kokura Daishoten at 6.
Curren Black Hill entered stud in Japan in 2016. Among his best progeny are Asahi, who finished 2nd in the Grade 2 Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai Stakes; Love Kelly, who finished 3rd in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes and the Grade 3 Hakodate Nisai Stakes; and Seiun Venus, who finished 3rd in the Grade 3 Queen Cup.
