Manhattan Cafe was awarded Best Older Horse in Japan in 2002. Manhattan Cafe scored his first Grade 1 (Jpn1) victory in the Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger) and won the Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) in the next start. He also captured the Tenno Sho (spring) at 4, beating then-reigning Horse of the Year Jungle Pocket.
Manhattan Cafe entered stud in Japan in 2003. Among his best progeny are Tenno Sho (spring) winner Hiruno d'Amour, Shuka Sho winner Red Desire, Queen Elizabeth II Cup winner Queens Ring, NHK Mile Cup winner Jo Cappuccino, and February Stakes winner Grape Brandy.
Manhattan Cafe was crowned Japanese Champion Sire in 2009.
Manhattan Cafe died in 2015 at the age of 17.
