South Vigorous is a winner of eight Graded (Jpn) Stakes on dirt including the JBC Sprint. He recorded six consecutive Graded (Jpn) stakes wins from March 2002 to June 2003.
South Vigorous entered stud in Japan in 2004. Among his best progeny are Grade 3 Musashino Stakes winner Namura Titan, Grade 3 Negishi Stakes winner T M South Dan, two-time NAR Horse of the Year Love Michan, NAR Horse of the Year Higashi Will Win, NAR Horse of the Year Sabuno Junior, and JBC Sprint winner Corin Berry. He holds the Japanese record for progeny wins with more than 5,500.
South Vigorous was crowned NAR Champion Sire in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
South Vigorous died in 2018 at the age of 22.
