New Year's Day, a son of North American leading sire Street Cry, captured the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile by 1 1/4 lengths while making his first start on dirt. He unfortunately sustained an injury after the win and retired to stud.
New Year's Day entered stud the U.S.A. in 2014. He moved to Japan for the 2020 season. In 2024, Myriad Love captured the Listed (Jpn1) Zen-Nippon Nisai Yushun and the Listed (Jpn3) Edelweiss Sho.
Among his other best progeny are Maximum Security, who won the Grade 1 Florida Derby, the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational Stakes, the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap, and the Grade 1 Pacific Classic Stakes; Fighting Mad, who won the Grade 1 Clement L Hirsch Stakes; Bourbon Resolution, who took the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes; and A Tracks, who captured the Listed (Jpn2) Hyogo Championship and the Listed (Jpn3) Tokyo Sprint.
