Leontes, out of a Japanese Oaks winner Cesario and a half-brother to the Japan Cup winner Epiphaneia and the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) winner Saturnalia, unleashed a powerful late run to win the Grade 1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes in only his second career start and became the first horse in the history of the race to accomplish the feat.
Leontes entered stud in Japan in 2017. His first crop hit the track in 2020. He has sired some good winners including Industria, who took the Grade 3 Lord Derby Challenge Trophy; T O Royal, who captured the Grade 3 Diamond Stakes and finished 3rd in the Grade 1 Tenno Sho (Spring); and Another Lyric, who won the Grade 3 Fukushima Himba Stakes and the Listed Anemone Stakes.
