Harbinger was born in 2006. He is by Dansili out of Penang Pearl by Bering.
Harbinger smashed the course record to take the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes by a race record of 11 lengths and was rated 135 as the best horse in the 2010 World Thoroughbred Rankings. He is one of the most promising sons of a proven sire Dansili, the sire of Arc winner Rail Link and five-time Group 1 winner Flintshire.
Harbinger entered stud in Japan in 2011.
In 2020 Normcore added another Group 1 victory when winning the Hong Kong Cup defeating the reigning winner Win Bright. She also won the Grade 1 Victoria Mile in 2019.
Among his other best progeny are Deirdre, who won the Grade 1 Shuka Sho, and then became just the second Japanese-trained horse to win a Group 1 in Britain since Agnes World took the July Cup in 2000 when capturing the Nassau Stakes; Blast Onepiece, who won the Grade 1 Arima Kinen (Grand Prix); Persian Knight, who took the Grade 1 Mile Championship.
He was crowned Japanese Champion Freshman Sire in 2014.
