Panthalassa was born in 2017. He is by Lord Kanaloa out of Miss Pemberley by Montjeu.
Showing incredible early speed, Panthalassa, by Japanese Horse of the Year and top-class sire Lord Kanaloa, became the first Japanese-trained horse to win overseas Gr. 1 races on both turf and dirt. He went all the way on the front end and claimed his first Group 1 victory in the Dubai Turf, sharing the victory with the defending champion Lord North at 5, and added a second top-level success in gate-to-wire fashion in the $20 million Saudi Cup, the world's richest horse race, defeating Dubai World Cup winner Country Grammer at 6.
