Lord Kanaloa was awarded Horse of the Year in Japan in 2013 and Best Sprinter or Miler in Japan in 2012 and 2013. He became the first Japanese-trained winner of the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint at 4 and put up a sensational performance to claim the race for the second year running by an emphatic five lengths from the subsequent European Champion Sprinter Sole Power at 5. In addition to the two victories in Hong Kong, he dominated the Japanese sprint division by capturing the Grade 1 Sprinters Stakes two years in a row and the Grade 1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen. He also showed his capability of performing to win over 1600 meters by winning the Grade 1 Yasuda Kinen.
Lord Kanaloa entered stud in Japan in 2014. In 2021, Danon Smash notched his second top-flight victory in the Grade 1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen following the win in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint in 2020. In 2022, Panthalassa shared the victory in the Group 1 Dubai Turf with the defending champion Lord North, and Danon Scorpion scored a career-high win by taking the Grade 1 NHK Mile Cup. In 2023, Panthalassa led all the way to win the Group 1 Saudi Cup, the world's richest horse race, beating the 2022 Dubai World Cup winner Country Grammer. Also in 2023, First Force earned his first Grade 1 victory in the Takamatsunomiya Kinen, and Brede Weg became a Grade 1 winner in her only fifth career start in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup. In 2024, Bellagio Opera captured his first Grade 1 and third graded victory in the Osaka Hai.
Among his other best progeny are Almond Eye, who became the first Japanese horse to win nine Grade/Group 1 races including the Japanese Filly Triple Crown races, Japan Cup (twice), Tenno Sho (autumn) (twice), and Dubai Turf; Saturnalia, who captured the Grade 1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) and the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes; Stelvio, who won the Grade 1 Mile Championship; and Tagaloa, who claimed the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes in Australia.
He was inducted into the Japan Racing Association Racing Hall of Fame in 2018. He was crowned Japanese Champion Freshman Sire in 2017.
