A son of Japanese Horse of the Year Lord Kanaloa and Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) and American Oaks winner Cesario, Saturnalia was unbeaten in three starts at 2 including a victory in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes, and extended his undefeated streak to four by capturing the Grade 1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) in his first appearance of his 3yo season. He is a half-brother to Japan Cup winner Epiphaneia and Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes winner Leontes.
Saturnalia entered stud in Japan in 2021. His first crop hit the track in 2024.
In 2025, his second-crop colt Cavallerizzo became his sire's first Grade 1 winner when capturing the Grade 1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes, and was awarded Best Two-Year-Old Colt in Japan.
