Suave Richard was born in 2014. He is by Heart's Cry out of Pirramimma by Unbridled's Song.
Suave Richard captured his first Grade 1 victory in the Osaka Hai, holding off the Grade 1 Mile Championship winner Persian Knight at 4. He added another notable victory to his CV as he claimed the Grade 1 Japan Cup, beating three Japanese Derby winners: Wagnerian, Makahiki, and Rey de Oro at 5. He also finished 2nd in the Grade 1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby).
Suave Richard entered stud in Japan in 2020. His first crop hit the track in 2023.
In 2024, Urban Chic won the Grade 1 Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger), and Regaleira, the 2023 Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes heroine, became the first three-year-old filly to win the Grade 1 Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) for 64 years.
In 2025, Regaleira added another Grade 1 title with a dominant performance in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup and was crowned Best Older Filly or Mare in Japan in 2025.
Among his other best progeny are Corazon Beat, who won the Grade 2 Keio Hai Nisai Stakes; Sweep Feet, who won the Grade 2 Tulip Sho; and Admire Belle, who took the Grade 2 Flora Stakes.
Suave Richard was crowned Japanese Champion Freshman Sire in 2023.
