Maurice was born in 2011. He is by Screen Hero out of Mejiro Frances by Carnegie.
Maurice, a son of Japan Cup victor Screen Hero, was awarded Horse of the Year and Best Sprinter or Miler in Japan in 2015. Although he was unable to make the 3yo classics, Maurice showed steady progress at 4 and concluded the incredible season with a perfect score of six wins out of as many starts including the Grade 1 Yasuda Kinen, the Grade 1 Mile Championship, and the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile. At 5, he returned to the scene with a dominant victory in the Group 1 Champions Mile in May, and then stepped up in trip and proved his brilliance over 2000 meters by winning the Grade 1 Tenno Sho (autumn) and the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup.
Maurice entered stud in Japan in 2017.
In 2023, Jack d'Or, who also won the Grade 2 Sapporo Kinen and the Grade 2 Kinko Sho in 2022, captured the Grade 1 Osaka Hai. In 2024, Admire Zoom landed the Grade 1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes. In 2025, Cosmic Crusader won the Group 1 Northerly Stakes in Australia.
Among his other best progeny are Hitotsu, who joined turf legend Mahogany in completing the historic Group 1 Victoria Derby-Australian Guineas-Australian Derby treble; Pixie Knight, who won the Grade 1 Sprinters Stakes; Geraldina, who captured the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup; and Mazu, who claimed the Group 1 Doomben 10,000.
