Sharp Azteca was born in 2013. He is by Freud out of So Sharp by Saint Liam.
Sharp Azteca, by Giant's Causeway's full-brother Freud, won the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap by 5 1/4 lengths over Grade 1 winners Mind Your Biscuits and Practical Joke. He also won four other graded races, including the Grade 2 Kelso Handicap and the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap, and finished 2nd in the Grade 1 races three times: the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, the Metropolitan Handicap, and the Malibu Stakes.
Sharp Azteca entered stud in the U.S.A. in 2019. He moved to Japan for the 2024 season.
In 2024, Sweet Azteca won the Grade 1 Beholder Mile Stakes and ultimately captured five graded races across 2024 and 2025.
Among his other best progeny are Queen Azteca, who landed the Group 3 UAE Oaks; Precious Meadow, who won the Listed Clasico Roberto Clemente, the Listed Clasico Verset's Jet, and the Listed Clasico Defensora; and Honed, who finished 2nd in the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes.
