Afleet was awarded Horse of the Year in Canada in 1987. Afleet is a winner of three graded races in the U.S.A. including the Grade 1 Jerome Handicap.
Afleet entered stud in the U.S.A. in 1989. He moved to Japan for the 1995 season. Among his best progeny are Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) winner Primo Ordine, JBC Sprint winners Sterling Rose and Bamboo Ere, Top Flight Handicap winners Twist Afleet and Flat Fleet Feet, and Japan Dirt Derby winner Big Wolf.
Afleet was crowned Champion Dirt Sire in JRA in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
Afleet died in 2014 at the age of 30.
