Maurice was born in 2011. He is by Screen Hero out of Mejiro Frances by Carnegie.
Maurice, a son of Japan Cup victor Screen Hero, was awarded Horse of the Year and Best Sprinter or Miler in Japan in 2015. Although he was unable to make the 3yo classics, he showed steady progress at 4 and concluded the incredible season with a perfect score of six wins out of as many starts including the Grade 1 Yasuda Kinen, the Grade 1 Mile Championship, and the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile. At 5, he returned to the scene with a dominant victory in the Group 1 Champions Mile in May, and then stepped up in trip and proved his brilliance over 2000 meters by winning the Grade 1 Tenno Sho (autumn) and the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup.
Maurice entered stud in Japan in 2017.
In 2021, Pixie Knight won the Grade 1 Sprinters Stakes in Japan, and Hitotsu landed the Group 1 Victoria Derby in Australia.
In 2022, Hitotsu added two Group 1 victories to his resume by winning the Australian Guineas and the Australian Derby, and joined turf legend Mahogany with historic Victoria Derby-Australian Guineas-Australian Derby treble. Also in 2022, Geraldina captured the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup in brilliant fashion, and Mazu claimed the Group 1 Doomben 10,000.
In 2023, Jack d'Or, who also won the Grade 2 Sapporo Kinen and the Grade 2 Kinko Sho in 2022, scored his first Grade 1 victory in the Osaka Hai.
Among his other best progeny are North Bridge, who took the Grade 2 American Jockey Club Cup and fnished 3rd in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup; Divina, who won the Grade 2 Fuchu Himba Stakes; and Matenro Sky, who took the Grade 2 Nakayama Kinen.
