Makahiki was born in 2013. He is by Deep Impact out of Wikiwiki by French Deputy.
One of the best sons of Deep Impact, Makahiki won the Grade 1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), beating subsequent Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger) and Arima Kinen (Grand Prix) winner Satono Diamond. He also captured the Group 2 Prix Niel, the Grade 2 Yayoi Sho, and the Grade 2 Kyoto Daishoten. His full-sister Uliuli took the Grade 3 CBC Sho and the Grade 3 Kyoto Himba Stakes.
Makahiki entered stud in Japan in 2023.
