Vela Azul, the only Grade 1-winning son of Japanese Derby winner Eishin Flash, picked up his first graded victory in the Grade 2 Kyoto Daishoten before winning the Grade 1 Japan Cup with a scintillating turn of foot, defeating six Grade/Group 1 winners, including Japanese Derby victor Shahryar. He is from the family of Japanese Best Two-Year-Old Filly Tall Poppy and Japanese Best Three-Year-Old Filly Aventura.
