Chichicastenango was born in 1998. He is by Smadoun out of Smala by Antheus.
Chichicastenango won the Group 1 Prix Lupin, in which he defeated the subsequent French Derby winner Anabaa Blue, and also took the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris while setting a course record.
Chichicastenango entered stud in France in 2003. He moved to Japan for the 2009 season.
Among his best progeny are two French Derby winners Vision d'Etat and Saonois, and NHK Mile Cup 3rd finisher Kings of the Sun.
He died in 2012 at the age of 14.
