Screen Hero was born in 2004. He is by Grass Wonder out of Running Heroine by Sunday Silence.
Screen Hero was awarded Best Older Horse in Japan in 2008. He was plagued by injury in his early racing career, but captured the Grade 1 Japan Cup at 4, beating Grade 1 winners such as Vodka, Deep Sky, and Meisho Samson.
Screen Hero entered stud in Japan in 2010. In 2022, Win Marilyn claimed an emphatic victory in the Group 1 Hong Kong Verse. She also won the 2021 Grade 2 Nikkei Sho, the 2021 Grade 2 All Comers, and the 2020 Grade 2 Flora Stakes, and finished 2nd in the 2020 Grade 1 Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) and the 2022 Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup.
Among his other best progeny are Japanese Horse of the Year Maurice, who won six Grade or Group 1 races including the Hong Kong Cup, and Tenno Sho (autumn); and Gold Actor, who won the Grade 1 Arima Kinen (Grand Prix).
