With his amazing turn of foot, Special Week won the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) by five lengths at 3, and also won the Grade 1 Japan Cup, the Tenno Sho (spring), and the Tenno Sho (autumn) at 4.
Special Week entered stud in Japan in 2000. Among his best progeny are Japanese Horse of the Year, Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas), Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) and Japan Cup winner Buena Vista, Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) and American Oaks winner Cesario, and Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger) winner Toho Jackal.
He died in 2018 at the age of 23.
