He blossomed at 5 and recorded his first Grade 1 victory in the Yasuda Kinen, defeating defending winner Gran Alegria. He also won the Grade 2 Mainichi Okan and the Grade 2 Nakayama Kinen, and finished 2nd in the Grade 1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby).
