Rulership is a winner of five group or graded races, including the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin, which he captured by a decisive 3 3/4 lengths, beating Thumbs Up and Treasure Beach. He is by Japanese Derby winner and Japanese Champion Sire King Kamehameha and out of Horse of the Year in Japan Air Groove. In addition, his half-sister Admire Groove was crowned Best Older Mare in Japan in 2004 and is the dam of Japanese Derby victor Duramente.
Rulership entered stud in Japan in 2013. In 2024, Soul Rush landed the Grade 1 Mile Championship and was awarded Best Miler in Japan. In 2025, Soul Rush captured the Group 1 Dubai Turf, outdueling then 10-time Gr. 1 winner Romantic Warrior. Also in 2025, Redentor notched his first Grade 1 victory in the Tenno Sho (spring).
Among his other best progeny are Kiseki, who won the Grade 1 Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger); Dolce More, who captured the Grade 1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes and was awarded Best Two-Year-Old Colt in Japan in 2022; and Mer de Glace, who stormed home to win the Group 1 Caulfield Cup in Australia.
Rulership was crowned Japanese Champion Freshman Sire in 2016.
