Eskendereya was born in 2007. He is by Giant's Causeway out of Aldebaran Light by Seattle Slew.
Eskendereya was a dominant winner of the Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes and the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes by a combined 18 1/4 lengths. He would have easily been the morning line favorite in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby but was pulled out of the race and retired because of an injury. He was undefeated in four starts on dirt.
Eskendereya entered stud in the U.S.A. in 2011. He moved to Japan for the 2016 season. He has sired some good winners including Mitole, who was awarded 2019 Champion Male Sprinter in the U.S.A. by winning four Grade 1 races including the Breeders' Cup Sprint, the Metropolitan Handicap, and the Forego Stakes. Among his other best progeny are Mor Spirit, who won the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, and Isabella Sings, who took the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere Stakes.
